Review: Babushka's Beauty Secrets ARC

If you are a woman, you need to buy this book.  If you have a daughter, you need to buy her this book.  Get it for your mother and grandmother too!  I LOVE Babushka's Beauty Secrets by Raisa Ruder!

Babushka is the Russian word for "grandmother".  Raisa shares the beauty secrets that her grandmother came up with.  All affordable and all natural!

Let me start by saying that I do not have to have everything organic in my life.  The majority of things in my life are non-organic.  However, I know that is very important to a lot of people now a days that the products they eat or use on their skin are organic.  You can not get much more organic than by using these recipes.

Ruder doesn't lecture you or tell you what to or not to do in her book.  It is basically a cooking book, only with recipes to make you even more beautiful than you already are.  For example, how to naturally color (or tint) your hair.  You can use beet juice or black tea bags.  There are recipes of what to mix that can help get rid of crows feet and to make your skin glow.

The majority of the ingredients needed are probably already in your kitchen.  Lots the recipes need fruits, eyes, water or milk to make.  You might only have to run to the store for one or two things, and even then, it would only be needed for some of the recipes.

I wanted to try a few of these tricks out myself before I reviewed the book, and my sister agreed to help me out.  Together we made Stress Souffle` and Sweetening the Pot (a lip coloring).

Stress Souffle` was fun to make.  But just a note- Go buy the carrott juice, instead of attempting to juice them yourself (unless you actually have a juicer!).  The recipe needed carrott juice, honey and baking soda.  We mixed it up and put it on our faces as instructed.  My face felt a bit sticky and the mixture wasn't the best smelling, but , my face was really soft and looked extreamly well cleaned after I washed it off.  I was exspecially amazed at how clean my sister's face is.  So, not only fun, but effective! 5/5 for this recipe!

Sweetening the Pot is a lip coloring that called for chocolate chips, petroleum jelly, and peppermint oil.  You have to melt the chocolate then mix everything together, stick it in an empty chap stick tube, then freeze it.  My sister is 10 years old, so this was an especially fun project for her.  How many kids can say they made their own chap stick??  We learned that we didn't add enough petroleum jelly, but will fix that in the next round.  Still we had fun, and tried something new.  4/5 for Sweetening the Pot!

Landscaping

Beautiful houses are easy to come by.  What makes them special is the landscaping around the land.  Some people have the special green thumb and an eye for design, others do not.  And, that's ok.  That is why we have landscapers to do it for us!  They make sure that the plants around your home fit the land itself, that is it able to live in the weather conditions around your house, and, most importantly, that it looks beautiful.

Ultimate Landscapes is a family owned and operated Landscaping business in Arizona. They can provide landscape design and installation services for Phoenix, Scottsdale, Chandler, Mesa, Fountain Hills, and Gilbert, Arizona.

They do a beautiful job doing what they know best.  You can even contact them for a free estimate!  You can choose from a varirty of styles for your yard.  From rustic, mesa landscaping, native style landscapes, lush, tropical landscapes, or virtually anything in between. Father's Day

Don't forget Father's Day this year!  It's this Sunday, the 20th.  I am still not sure what to get my dad this year, he is incredibly hard to buy for.

Matt, at Tiepedia, sent me an email recently telling me about these amazing Father's Day cakes.  They are seriously awesome!!  A few years back I took 3 cake decorating courses, so let me tell you exactly how hard and how much time is needed to make beautiful cakes.  I worked with straight frosting, but it seems that the most beautiful cakes are covered in fondant.

You can check out Matt's article, along with more amazing Father's Day cakes, here!

Review: Leap Year movie

My family rented Leap Year the other day and I just got around to watching yesterday.  I was laughing my head off!  It was super funny, adorable, and yet, it wasn't cheesy like some romantic comedies are.

I really enjoyed it.  I don't buy movies a lot, but this is one movie I will be buying.  I watched it eariler in the day by myself.  Then, in the evening my family was watching it so I was sitting with them.  I laughed at the same parts (even though I knew what was going to happen), ahh-ed at the same parts, and loved it like it was the first time I watched it.

Leap Year is about a woman (Amy Adams) who has been going with her boyfriend for 4 years.  She wants to get married, but, when he doesn't propose to her before leaving to Ireland for a confrence, she decides to go to the old country herself and ask him.  She gets lost along the way, and a gorgeous Irish man (Matthew Goode) agrees to help her out (so he can save his bar with the money he will be getting from helping her out).  The two do not get along at all!  (Which only makes the movie that more funny.)

I really loved this movie, as you can tell.  I enjoy romantic comendies and chick flicks, but this was just exceptional.  It came out January 8th, so you can rent it (or Redbox it) now. :]

We're back!

Yay!  K & K's is back up!  If any of you tried to go on the site yesterday, you have noticed it disappeared.. This happened because Google marked it as spam and it was deleted. I was freaking out, not going to lie. I was freaking out big time. I found this form though, thanks to Janetfaye on Twitter, to reverse the deletion. And, we are back! I'm so sorry about the issues yesterday.

Swagbucks

Have you ever used Swagbucks.com?  Swagbucks is a site where, just by using their search engine, you accumulate points (called Swag Bucks) which can be used to "buy" items (video games, autographs, giftcards, iphones, etc.) from their Swag Store!  I love using their site.  So far I have gotten a giftcard to a great local resteraunt, over $50 in amazon.com giftcards, and an autographed band poster.  Swagbucks is awesome!

And, on Monday, Swagbucks is having a Swag Code Extravaganza!  (Swag codes are codes that you can submit in order to get swag bucks.)  There will be at least 5 codes released on Monday!

Plus, each day next week Swagbucks will be highlighting a different high value Swag Buck bill, starting on Monday with the 25. Every 7th searching win on Swagbucks will be awarded that big bill, meaning that more people will have big wins next week!

If you sign up right now with this link, you can get an extra 20 swag bucks when you enter this code: SUMMEROFSWAG
