Mineral Basics is a makeup company that uses only natural and healthy ingrediants in their products. They do not use chemicals, mineral oils, fragrances, synthetic dyes, or preservatives. They offer
foundations,
concealers, color correctors,
blushes and
bronzers,
multi-use mineral colors (aka eyeshadows), and
finishing powders. Mineral Basics even has a
skin care line to help fight aging and blemishes.
The multi-use mineral colors are super cool. Not only can they be used as an eyeshadow, but also eyeliner (wet or dry useage), brow tint, cheek color, lip color, nail color, hair shimmer, body shimmer, or even paint!
Mineral basics has sent me 15
samples to review. (Keep reading to find out how to get some free samples yourself!) I got to choose the 15 colors, which were: 1) dragon-flight 2) twilight-garden 3) angel eyes illuminator 4) mint 5) water-myth 6) bark 7) peachy blush 8) hilltop glow 9) kingdom-rule 10) sparklemint 11) elven wood 12) hidden creatures 13) magical spell 14) mer-tresses 15) wonderment.
The colors are
extreamly pigmatic. I love deep pigmentation about makeup (you would know if you read my other makeup review!). I got to warn you though,
seriously be really careful when putting this stuff on! Once you get it in place, it doesn't like to move. This is great for those long days at work, but can be hard if you get fallout or smudge it the wrong way. I cannot stress this more, but start with a little and build up your color, because their coloring really packs a punch!
I did not care for the
peachy blush. The coloring was just not for me. It looked very orange against my pale skin.
Dragon-flight was a very pretty purple-y/grey color, and I really liked
twilight garden! It is a great smokey eye color being a smokey greenish/grey color. I
loved the
Angel Eyes Illuminator. Amazing! It is a product I could swear by. It's a miracle 'bags-be-gone' product.
I also tryed "
Mint", which is a matte color (matte is when there is no shimmer/ dull). It's probably only because I am so pale, but it did not show up on my skin at all, so I cannot say much about this color. The
water-myth is a minty/lime green color. It is very shimmery and has a nice color to it, but I would personally not wear it unless I was dressing up for Halloween. (I wear mostly neutral colors, so green isn't on the top of my list.)
Bark is the color of, you guessed it, bark. Yes, I'm serious. This should be very easy for everyone to picture. :)
Hilltop glow reminds me of when you walk outside and there is powdery dirt on the ground which you walk through and your feet get dirty. It is like a powdery dirt color. That's not to say it's an ugly color, but that is what the color reminds me of. Hilltop glow is actually quite pretty, but definetly not my number one choice from these samples :)
Kingdom-rule is a gorgeous light pink color. It is very shimmery. Love it!
Sparklemint I couldn't really see. It's just a light shimmer that will blend in with skin tones.
Elven Wood is
extreamly, extreamly green! Very pigmented! The same goes for
Magical Spell. The picture on the mineralbasics.com website shows the color as a pretty purple, but when I got it I saw it is a very bright and outragous blue.
Hidden Creatures reminds me of a polluted sky. It's a dirty blue shade (I personally do not wear blur eye shadow because it contrasts horribly with my blue eyes.
Mer-tresses was a very nice shade. A warm, woody pink color, it could be worn causual or spiffed up.
Wonderment is also a warm brown color. It is kind of like mer-tresses, but not as pink toned.
What were my favorites???
Top choice: Angel Eyes Illuminator
Second Choice: twilight-garden
Third Choice: dragon-flight
